- social life = movie nerd

To say it plainly, I have nothing to write about. I have no social life to speak of and am increasingly feeling like I’m in the depths of an identity crisis. I don’t even dream anymore. I used to have the most extravagantly mad dreams and now, nothing. It’s like a drought, but with dreams instead of rain. I seem to recall reading a children’s book by Roald Dahl about a catcher of dreams? Was it The BFG? If only I could find a way to make myself dream again… everything would be better? Why do we spend so much time contemplating how good our lives could be if only… Right.

My head is aching and I’m watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for the first time. I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately… since I’ve had so much free time lately and all. Not that I’ve been absorbing much lately. Maybe it’s because of these headaches I’ve been having…

Currently…

So in the past few months I’ve been neglecting the internet and my blog. I’ve been too distracted with other things to keep up. I’m watching the newest Sons of Anarchy (I find myself strangely intrigued by this show) and having my beautiful puppy snuggle up against me on the couch. Oh and thinking about some new adventures I’d like to have… more research is needed but I’m planning something a little outrageous.

I’m really excited because I’m starting my new job tomorrow and it will be fabulous, I’m sure. I suppose I’ll have to log back in to post all about it. And post pictures of my beautiful puppy and kitten of course. Now for more research…

Waiting for Gustav

Life seems to slow down when you’re waiting for a hurricane to hit. Knowing it’s coming but not knowing how bad it’s going to be… it can really put your nerves on edge.  Not that I’m feeling that nervous overall. Hurricanes are hurricanes and they’re comin’ no matter what.

Mmm. I think we’re as ready as we’re going to be. I want to take some pictures and video of Lucy and Luna and post them for all to see. I love them both so much. Maybe even some hurricane pictures! (:

Equines and High Hopes

For everyone that doesn’t already know (that is, everyone), I applied and interviewed for an equine technician position a few weeks back and have been waiting eagerly/frantically to hear back from them. I desperately need a job and I really want this job. After exhausting myself out today working around the house, I decided to take a nap. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. When I check my voice mail at 8 pm I have a message about the job that just says to call back. I can’t stop thinking about it and hoping that it’s good news and I won’t know until tomorrow morning. All I can do now is hope for the best.

Edit: Turns out I was turned down for the position. I’m disappointed but I have to tell myself it’s for the best. They said that they wanted someone with more experience. I have a hunch they just think I’m too young… Back to the drawing board and maybe one of these days I’ll get to work with horses!

A stab at blogging and reading lists

I have only told one person so far that I was starting a blog and he responded by telling me it would be a waste of my time. Or something of the sort. Negativity. Pft. Perhaps I don’t have anything to say that the world desperately needs to hear but don’t think that that will stop me. So here we go.

I’m stranded at my parent’s house without a vehicle because my car was having problems so I’m strapped for things to do. I already redesigned my mom’s website (You can check it out at gwenvoorhies.com), worked on her quickbooks, knitted two oddly misshapen cell phone cozies, and raided their book shelves for new territory.

  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
  • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
  • The Time Machine and The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells
  • War and Peace and Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Pretty diverse selection but I’m excited about them. Reading is good for the soul. Oh, and your head. That too.
